The Land of Domaines Schlumberger is located on the slopes of a sandstone hill in the Vosges region, overlooking the Alsace Wine Route.
For two hundred years, vines have been growing there under the abundant sunshine that warms the terraced landscape most of the day. For seven generations, hands have been picking the fruit in bunches to extract its juice and, over time, create a variety of blends in the winemaking process.
The largest private Vineyard in Alsace, Domaines Schlumberger, 100% estate grown, preserves a traditional know-how over its one hundred and thirty hectares, or eight hundred kilometres of vines which the winegrowers canvass thirteen to seventeen times a year.
Draft horses are used to plough the soil and harvest is performed by hand in order to better select and preserve the fruit. Half of the surface is dedicated to four grands crus made from white grape varieties: Riesling, Pinot gris and Gewurztraminer.
To deserve this designation, the vine stocks must be at least ten years old and boast roots deep enough to bless the fruit with the flavour of the terroir and provide the wine with its minerality.
The wines of Domaines Schlumberger tell the story of transmission from generation to generation, throughout History.
Their flavours are an expression of the region and its soil. Each bottle produced, whose quality is uncompromising, embodies the committed and considerate nature of the local people and the groomed surrounding landscape that resembles vast gardens.
As an estate committed to High Environmental Value, preserving the environment is fundamental to these winemakers who are attached to their terroir and its natural riches. For them, a great wine is achieved with great fruit and great fruit is produced on a treasured terroir.
